The Health Behaviour Change Research Group, the HRB Primary Care Clinical Trials Network Ireland, the Health Promotion Research Centre and PPI Ignite @ NUI Galway are running a Spring 2020 joint seminar series to highlight research in the area of population health and health services.
Prof. Michel Wensing will deliver the next seminar on Thursday 19th March at 1pm, on the topic of ‘Implementation Science in Health – still much to do’’.
Prof Wensing is a Full Professor for Health Services Research and Implementation Science in Healthcare at Heidelberg University, Germany. He is also part of the Department of General Practice and Health Services Research at Heidelberg University Hospital. Key areas in his research are the implementation of evidence-based practice, healthcare organisation and alignment with patient preferences. Most of his research focuses on primary care and general practice. He has over 400 international scientific publications, and is Editor-in-Chief of Implementation Science
This seminar will discuss three topics: the need for implementation of change in healthcare, the need to do scientific research on how to do this, and what would we needed to enhance the field of research on how to improve healthcare. Examples of specific research projects (two related to primary care, one to intensive care in hospitals) will be used for illustration. The format is an interactive lecture.
